Stacks of Honduras Mahogany boards waiting to be run through the planer. |
After thickness planing, all stock is jointed to ensure a true edge. |
1/8" beading is cut on the legs using a moulding head specially ground for these tables. |
After legs are beaded, mortises are cut and chiseled for the stretchers. |
Boards with the best figure are selected and edge glued to make the bases. |
After glue-up, the bases are run through a drum sander for final thicknessing. |
Construction of the tops begins by cutting the curved pieces on the bandsaw |
Pieces are all cut and ready for assembly. |
The pieces are then hand fitted, glued and clamped in position. |
The pieces are starting to come together and it's time for trial fitting. |
Work on the tops continues as the the edges are trimmed to shape. |
Veneers are now carefully sawn into sections to make up the diamond matched top. |
Individual sections are now taped together to create the final pattern. |
The sheet is then very carefully applied to the table top. |
And here is the end result, waiting the edge profile to be cut. |
After a little touch-up sanding, the tables are ready for the finishing process. |
